YouTube Tag Generator
Enter your video title and topic, and AI will generate 20 highly relevant YouTube tags optimized for search — instantly, for free.
How this YouTube tag generator works
Type your video title or topic into the field above and optionally paste your video description. Click Generate Tags and the tool sends your input to an AI model, which analyses the subject, identifies the most commonly searched related terms, and returns 20 YouTube tags formatted exactly the way YouTube Studio expects them. The whole process takes a few seconds. Copy all tags with one click and paste them directly into the Tags field when uploading or editing your video.
When would you use this?
- Launching a new video — Before you hit publish, run your title through this tool to fill the Tags field with relevant keywords. Tags help YouTube understand your content and surface it to the right audience.
- Re-optimising older videos — If an older video has low impressions, outdated or missing tags are often the cause. Use this tool to generate a fresh set and update the video in YouTube Studio.
- Researching related keywords — The generated tags reveal the search terms your audience actually uses, which can help you plan future video topics and write better titles and descriptions.
- Multi-language channels — If you create content in Arabic, Urdu, or another language, entering your title in that language produces tags in the same language, which are more relevant for local search.
- Niche topics with limited search data — Tools like TubeBuddy and VidIQ rely on existing search volume data, so they struggle with new or niche topics. AI generates relevant tags even when there is no prior search history to draw from.
- Batch uploading — If you publish several videos at once, run each title through the generator to quickly produce a unique tag set for every video without repeating the same generic terms.
How does this compare to other YouTube tag tools?
TubeBuddy and VidIQ are the most popular YouTube tag tools. Both work as browser extensions and pull real search volume data from YouTube's API, which is useful for established topics with plenty of search history. However, both require paid plans for full access — TubeBuddy's Star plan starts at $4.99/month and VidIQ's Boost plan at $49/month. They also struggle with niche, regional, or newly emerging topics where search data is sparse.
This tool uses an AI model to generate tags based on understanding the topic, not on historical keyword data. That makes it well-suited for new topics, regional content, and non-English videos — and it is completely free with no account required. The trade-off is that it does not show search volume numbers. For established high-volume topics, combining both approaches gives the best result.
How many tags should a YouTube video have?
YouTube allows up to 500 characters in the Tags field. This tool generates 20 tags, which typically uses 300–400 characters — enough to cover the topic thoroughly without padding. YouTube's own guidance says tags are less important than your title, description, and thumbnail, but they still help the algorithm categorise your video and surface it in related video recommendations.
Do YouTube tags affect search ranking?
Tags have a smaller direct impact on search ranking than they did in YouTube's early years. Today, the video title, description, and viewer behaviour — watch time and click-through rate — carry more weight. Tags mainly help YouTube understand the topic of your video and decide which other videos to recommend it alongside. Including accurate, relevant tags is still considered best practice, and missing tags means YouTube has less information to work with.
Can I edit the generated tags before copying?
Yes. The tags appear as individual chips in the results area. Click any tag to remove it, then use the Copy All Tags button once you are happy with the selection. You can also click Generate Again to send the same input to the AI for a fresh variation.
Why are some generated tags different each time?
AI language models introduce controlled randomness into their output. Two runs with the same input may return slightly different tags — which is useful, because running the generator two or three times gives you a broader pool of relevant terms to choose from.
Does this tool see or store my video content?
Your title and description are sent to the AI API to generate the tags and then discarded. Nothing is stored on our servers, and your video content is not used for any other purpose.
How do I add tags in YouTube Studio?
Open YouTube Studio, go to Content, and click the video you want to edit. In the Details tab, scroll down to the More options section and you will find the Tags field. Paste your copied tags there — YouTube accepts comma-separated values — then click Save. Tags can be added before or after publishing.
